Dominik Ziörjen

Dominik studied with Professor Markus Würsch at the Bern Univeristy of the Arts and graduated with honors in 2016 with a Master of Music in Pedagogy. As a freelance musician, he plays in various orchestras and ensembles, as well as frequently appearing as a soloist alphorn player.

He is the conductor of the Musikgesellschaft Gstaad and Bern Bümpliz, directs the Youth Music Heimberg and teaches at the music schools of Aaretal and Saanenland-Obersimmental. Furthermore, he directs the education courses in wind instruments and alphorn scenes.

Dominik Ziörjen received his first cornet lessons at the age of nine. He successfully participated in several solo competitions and was, for many years, a member of the National Youth Brass Band. He received trumpet lessons, among others, from André Schüpbach and Michael Bach.
After completing his Military Music RS, he became an alphorn soloist in the Swiss Army Band Representation Orchestra, with which he has performed at home and abroad.
In 2014, Dominik joined the New Zurich Orchestra and the Bern Symphonic Wind Orchestra as an alphorn soloist.
